Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat is one of the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges that were established as joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. It was established in June 1961 with facilities to run Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines. It is now changed to National Institute of Technology along with other RECs.

Admission

  • Admissions to SVNIT Surat (now being a deemed university)are granted on the basis of performance in the All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, for MHRD, Government of India. Details regarding the exam may be referred to on www.aieee.nic.in. Any further admission details will be provided as soon as they are available
  • Post-Graduate Admissions: Admission notification will be given on All-India basis. For admission to PG Programmes, the candidates must have at least 60 percent marks or an equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average in the B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent examination (55 percent for SC/ST category) in the respective branch of Engineering. For the PG Programme in Town and Regional Planning offered by the Civil Engineering Department, the candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering or Bachelors degree in Architecture securing at least 60 percent of the marks are eligible for admission. For the PG Programmes in Mechanical Engineering, the candidates with B.E./B.Tech in Production/Production & Industrial Engineering are also eligible for admission.
